Karen Green – Chair
Hi, I’m Karen. I am the current Chair of the Board of Volunteer Directors at Colchester Credit Union.
I became involved with the Credit Union when I joined Colchester Borough Homes as a Housing Officer in 2010. I had previously worked in banking so know how important it is for people to be able to access ethical savings and loans.
Colchester Borough Homes supports the Credit Union so I became the link between the two organisations. I am proud to be involved with the Credit Union who do a great job serving the community of Colchester & Tendring.
Now that my girls are grown up I spend lots of time with my beautiful springer spaniel Jess.
Oh and I like wine!
Nick Rose – Treasurer
Hi, I’m Nick. I was born in Colchester but spent my early years in Nigeria (as my father worked out there in Medical science) and returned to Colchester in 1960.
I didn’t really have a career path, but rather I stumbled along a trail strewn with choices dictated by necessity
(usually a lack of money) and occasionally interesting opportunities, picking up qualifications as I went. Probably not the wisest or easiest way to live, but it’s been interesting and I’ve met a lot
of interesting people.
My last paid job before retirement was as an Audit Manager for the Big Lottery Fund, helping to design the controls in Lottery funding application systems.
After retiring, I joined CCU as a Volunteer Director and currently serve as the Treasurer. I see Credit Unions as providing a fair, equitable and member-focussed banking service, which is why I work here.
Evie Green – Secretary
Hi, I’m Evie. I’m currently studying Economics at the University of Essex and am due to graduate this year! After that, I will be working as a Corporate Tax Assistant and studying towards my accounting qualifications.
I joined the Credit Union last year; I felt that the CU could provide me with the opportunity to give back to my local community. I currently take on the role of Secretary and manage the Facebook page!
In my spare time I enjoy cooking and baking and love experimenting with new dishes! I play netball and basketball and often join my Mum (above!) walking our lovely springer, Jess.
David Norman – Office Manager
Clive Stobbs – Director
Hi, I’m Clive. I worked for 37 years in the City of London in the financial money markets, as the Chief Foreign Exchange Dealer of a Japanese bank and later in senior positions with four international money broking companies.
I was involved with Autism Anglia since 1983. Upon my retirement from the city in 2002 I was asked to become the charity’s Chief Executive - a position I held until my second retirement in 2018.
Upon retiring again I was looking for a project that helps and benefits the local community and was very proud to become a Director of the Colchester Credit Union.
I love sport (especially cricket and rugby) and although my playing days are long passed I still watch as much as I can.
Jack Davis – Director
Hi, I’m Jack. I graduated from the University of Essex last year and I’m now a Tax Assistant working towards my accounting and tax qualifications.
I became a Director of the Credit Union early 2018 because I wanted to do something that would benefit my local community. It has provided me with the opportunity to understand how a cooperative works and to meet some great people!
In my spare time, I enjoy having a laugh with family and friends, playing video games and trying lots of new food!
